New drop-off location
I asked a friend where a good hangout is in Roger’s Park. He told me about Charmer’s. 99 postcards were left here on Monday, 4/23/07. An employee told me about the history of the place: “A few years ago, the cafe replaced a liquor store that was a great detriment to the neighborhood. This is one of the best things about gentrification.”

Tear it off and dip it in.
I wish we had some pumpernickel. What you do is, you get one of those big round loaves of pumpernickel, or you could use really dark German rye, and sort of hallow out the top – you know those bread bowls at Panera? Imagine it six thousand times bigger, and full of spinach dip. And then you tear it off and you dip it in. I guess first, you go through what you’ve torn out – the middle. In theory, the whole family would sit around a table and do that. But usually I kind of just stole it all and sat in a corner and ate that by myself.

Homecoming
My girlfriend in high school and I – we went Homecoming dances, stuff like that. One time I danced with one of her friends at her prom. And afterwards her friend wrote me emails that were like, “it felt so right when we were dancing at Homecoming.” And I was like, um, I don’t know what to do with that. I wrote her back, but it was a very awkward, “uh…” and in long, drawn out high school email form. “How should I say this? Back the fuck off.”

He doesn’t want to die in a country that’s not his
My dad came illegally to the U.S. He went through the whole process of, you know, getting his papers done and all that. And eventually he ended up getting them. And that’s how he helped us get here. Now, with all of us being citizens and only my dad not being a citizen, sort of tells us that he doesn’t want to be in this country. That kind of thing. My mom was the one that applied for citizenship. So, automatically me and my sister became citizens here. My dad would have gotten it if he applied for it, but he hasn’t applied for it. Because he has this theory that if he dies he doesn’t want to die in a country that’s not his.
